About us

The Data Espace is a Paris-based social enterprise working to close digital opportunity gaps for underrepresented communities, especially those with African and Asian migration backgrounds. Our mission is to reverse deskilling and unlock the full potential of migrant professionals across Europe.

We help diverse talent thrive in the EU’s innovation economy through advanced digital training, access to licensed technologies, and support for inclusive tech ventures in fields like AI, data, fintech, and civic technology.

The Data Espace is a spinout of DataKirk, a Scottish nonprofit that empowered underserved communities through digital education, policy reform, and career access. Today, we scale that impact across Europe in collaboration with partners across Africa and Asia.

The What

What we do

We provide practical support at every stage of the innovation journey:

  • Upskilling programmes in data science, AI, and cybersecurity
  • Licensing of ready-to-use tech from trusted global partners
  • Mentorship and advisory from diaspora leaders and industry experts
  • Startup support for diverse founders entering the EU market
  • Cross-continental partnerships linking African, Asian, and European ecosystems
We combine training, technology transfer, and entrepreneurial support to drive lasting, inclusive change.

The Why

Why it matters

The EU faces a growing shortage of digital professionals, while thousands of skilled migrants remain underemployed due to systemic barriers. Meanwhile, African and Asian countries offer rich pools of innovation, expertise and scalable technologies.

Our role is to connect these opportunities, building a fairer, more competitive and collaborative digital future for all.

The Target

Where we are going

By 2030, we aim to:

  • Upskill 500 talents into high-skill digital roles
  • Launch or support 50 ventures using licensed tech
  • Facilitate 30 cross-border partnerships
  • Shape more inclusive startup and visa policies across the EU
We believe in a digital economy where everyone has a place, and the tools to thrive.
